Adios SUVs

General Motors announced a cutback in SUV production and possibly might completely ax the Hummer, the behemoth of 4x4s in response to flagging demand for the gas-guzzlers. Ford’s executives tried to save their Denali division with a mammouth ad campaign during the NBA play-offs by promoting their best-seller as a car for winners. At $4 plus per gallon of gas few Americans wanted to become a sucker and sales remained flat, as smaller cars outperformed the big boys for the first time in decades.

I’m riding a bike most of the time in Palm Beach. The roads are flat and the off-season traffic almost non-existent,m except for the commuting hours. Unfortunately my fuel, beer, is more expensive than gas. $8/gallon. The government wants another tax on gas to teach the consumer to conserve fuel, but the last thing the economy needs is more money to pay for the war.

So I’m biking, although riding drunk is a challenge.

Hopefully a Hummer driven by a millionaire will crash into me and I can settle for a big lump sum. I should only be so lucky.

Only Jan. 8 oil was $100 and in that time GW Bush has twice begged the Saudis to save him.

I think the towelheads told him, “Mos zibbi.” which is not a yes answer.
