Dog Catcher on the prowl – Pattaya

Pattaya City Hall has announced an initiative to register every dog in the city and have opened an office on Soi Buakhao next to the Fire Station for this purpose. Dog’s names will be recorded by address and given a free rabies shot. The city officials have stated that all dogs must wear collars with ID tags as well as owners having to clean up after their dogs. Violation for the latter is 500 baht.

My dog has already done 1000 baht worth of penalties this morning and the five strays across the street about 5000 baht of illegal poop. None of them are wearing collars and I haven’t seen a single policeman searching the soi for criminal mutts. They must be in training at Dog Violation school studying how to write up a month’s quota of tickets in three days. Nothing was mentioned about pet pigs or elephants.

Another tactic for revenue piracy by city hall, although I visited the City Vets and they are very nice.
