Baht Freefall

“No brakes.”

The Baht dropped below 34 to the dollar on the strength of foreign capital influx into the Thai Stock Market capping a 12% decrease for the once-almighty dollar.

My math has the damage at 16%. 41 to 34.

A stronger baht hurts tourism, although a Thai travel rep said, “A stronger baht will make traveling overseas to the USA more affordable.”

If they can get a visa from those idiots at the US Embassy.

This trend is predicted to backwater later in the year with the dollar settling at 35 and forecasted to reach 37-38 in 2008.

Not helping my beer drinking.

$100 = 3390 instead of 4100.

600 baht is the price of a good meal for two in Pattaya or 30 Leo beers from 7/11.

And that hurts us all.

I’d like to blame it on GW Bush, but in this case I’ll fault the Landing on the Moon. The world hasn’t been the same since that first giant step for Mankind, then again neither has it been normal since GW Bush took office.

Sorry, can’t help it.

As I always told my fellow workers,

Of you’re going to blame someone, blame the person out of the room.

They can’t protect themselves.
