Pirates Of the Carribean – Part 3

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN originated from a Disneyland ride. Moving figures portrayed a bucolic pirate raid on a seaside town. All fun and games with a ho-ho-ho and a bottle of rum.

Reality had blood running in the streets and screams filled the ears of the hunted and hunters. Even worse Long John Silver liked young boys.

Part of the appeal to pirates arises from their perceived freedom of the sea. Follow the wind to a treasure on an idyllic isle. All under the Skull and Crossbones. Piercings, tattoos, and funny clothes. Punks of the ocean.

And few film pirates have portrayed this esprit de mer better than Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow. The first PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN was great fun. Swordplay, zombies, humor. I loved it. My wife, who hates most farang movies, except for those with Pierre Brosnan, loved it too.

However I didn’t even bother to see the second film.

The squid-headed rasta pirate was too reminIscent of that awful CGI creature from the second STAR WAR trilogy. I blew it off and then the director of the new movie seemed as devoted to CGI imaging rather than spending money on writers to fashion a believable plot.

Another miss.

Not even for DVD.

Even if Keith Richards plays his father.

So what do i think of it?

Don’t care.
