Thailand #1 Gold Medal in tourism

Thailand is famous for white sand beaches with gin-clear water. spicy good, and beautiful women but a recent report from Norwich Union, the insurance company, states that the Land of Smiles is also one of the most hazardous holiday destinations for British travelers, who will number almost a million this year.Ao-manao-1.jpg

Tourists risk theft, food poisoning, traffic accidents and loss of belongings.

Theft is a problem everywhere, but from my experience most robberies happen in hotels or poorly secured rented rooms. I left my camera at a restaurant in Pattaya. Two weeks later I returned and the staff said they still had the camera. Most Thais would never steal since it would bring them into contact with the police who aren’t nicknamed ‘tam-luat’ or make-blood for nothing.

Traffic accidents occur on motorbikes and overloaded buses and boats.

The first comes from some tourist seeing a bike and thinking it’s a lot of fun, having never ridden a motorcycle in their life. The ground is hard and cars are harder. Drive slow and wear a helmet. Something that costs more than 99 baht.

On Koh Samet I see tourist kayaking without wearing life preservers.

Troubles come mostly from not thinking.

People die everywhere. Even Disneyland.

Injury from an travel accident could be avoided by not getting on anything you don’t think is safe, also you should steal the life preserver from the airplane for treacherous water crossing on your vacation ie Koh Samui to Hat Rim for the full moon party.

Let’s face it, the airlines never use them.

South Africa, the hosts of the 2010 World Cup, gets the silver medal on the strength of the violent robbery or loss of luggage in transit.

The bronze for Austria was achieved due to the high rate of Britons experiencing a skiing or snowboarding accident.

Mexico was mentioned for sunburn, the Czech Republic scored high for pickpocketing incidents take place among Britons, and the Caribbean was deemed the worst for insect bites and stings.

The safest destination for British holidaymakers was Ireland.

Guess they don’t take into account extreme alcohol poisoning from going on a Craic in Dublin.

Or going to MacDonald’s.
