Bike Guy by Scott Taylor

Scott’s “Bike Guy” has been installed on the corner of Bedford and 12th street in McCarren Park, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I attended the opening last week. Mark Benecke of Studio 54 fame was the big name for the showing. A few more faces from the age of heroes and heroines were there. Scott asked for me to play it low-key. He’s tres non-outgoing, but when a Puerto Rican lady said that she loved the piece, then I sprang into action.

“And here’s the artist.”

Scott turned red as Superman’s sun. The woman hugged him. Her friends, baseball players, discussed whether it was a basketball player or a fighter.

“It’s a bicyclist.” Scott was the artist.

“Are you sure?”

It’s all a question of POV.

Go see for yourself if you’re in the neighborhood.

North Williamsburg that is.
