Swede ODs on Som Tam

Most farangs steer away from spicy Thai foods.

Chili riot in their stomachs like a Indonesian mob amok on palm wine.

I was brought up on Mexican food, so Thai cuisine was almost mild, however the spicy mango salad som tam fiercely competes with any dish from South of the Border in the USA.

Thai women revel in this salad. The spicier the better. So hot sweat formed on their upper lip. The next morning they groan in agony. “Jep thong.”

Som mon nah.” I laugh having refrained from eating som tam with fermented crab Pudong or fermented fish plara.

A deadly combination as a Satthahip Swede fatally discovered this weekend.

Takign up the challenge from friends, he tasted a little. All was fine at first, but he later developed a case of diarrhea.

His female friend suggested a visit to the hospital.

The police suspect no foul play.
