Blind Faith LP Cover
Last night the Old Roue and I discussed BLIND FAITH’s LP cover upon seeing a flat-chested dancer at What’s Up A Go-Go in Pattaya. Her chest was flatter than Kansas and the Old Roue said, “I loved that cover.”
“Who wouldn’t?” Obviously guys with a big breast fixation.
“I had that album cover on my wall. The 11-year-old girl was spotted on a London bus with her very posh mum and the album was designed by Hypgnosis who did all the Floyd stuff. The plane is actually a hood ornament from a British Ford Pilot from the 50s, maybe my FAVE all time British car, because it was huge and modeled after some US brute like a Dynaflo and not many were made because nobody could afford to buy them or run them. This was postwar rations and poverty time. Stupid fucking car to build and nobody bought it. There were only a limited number of gangsters in England at the time. Very few people even knew about that car, that’s why the cover was so hip.”
“How do you remember that shit?” I wasn’t sure if I could find my way home.
“It was those small breasts. For me tits are almost a minus. I believe this what we’re talking about. This is Oy the youngest of my barely legal tri-hump-virate. Oy, Bee and Gee-Up. I’m besotted. What she’s hiding coyly, while letting me shoot pictures. Those may be classified as tits, but only in an Ethiopian morgue. She also has an ass you could put in your wallet. I think I’m in love.”
“There’s no greater fool than an old fool.”
“And that’s something we both know.”

My friend, AJ, flew out from London. We knew each other from the 80s. He was a cameraman and tai-chi teacher. He had told everyone that he was coming to Thailand for a diving certification. Pattaya had plenty of schools for PADI courses and a lot more too. I took the week off.
One evening AJ and I stopped at a bar of Soi 8. A slender Thai girl danced on a platform to a boy band hit. A skinhead farang was obviously her date for the night. She looked over his shoulder and winked with a mercenary mirth.
In 1970 BLIND FAITH issued an album cover featuring a shirtless blonde waif. This girl was her Asian twin and I memorized her hips walking away from the bar. the mischievous backward glance should have warned me to watch my freedom.
AJ and I didn’t go out at night after that. He kept saying he had to get up early for his diving courses. I went to the bar on Soi 8 twice. The girl wasn’t there. The mama-san said she was on holiday with man from England. There were thousands of Brits in Pattaya. AJ was just one of them.

Blind Faith - I’m so wasted I can’t find my way home.
The band was Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Stevie Winwood, and Rich Grech. They should have kept Jack Bruce, but he had too much ego, but the band wasn’t really important. It was the naked girl on the cover which sold the LP.
