When I first came out to the Orient, my mother would call to ask if I were involved in certain overthrows of the government. In her head she couldn’t think why else any American would leave the Land of the Free, unless your absence was required to overthrow an enemy of America. She was wrong. I was simply a ne’er-do-well on holiday.
I suppose many mothers are calling theri children on holiday in Thailand this week.
The PAD have stormed the government house and blockaded regional airports. PM Samak has vowed to resist these attempts to oust him from power. Thais are concerned this confrontation could lead to revolution, however foreign tourists are taking events in stride.
