GW Bush’s Last State of the Union Address

The number of Pattaya residents watching President Bush’s State of Union Address probably could be counted on one hand. I opted for the movie INVINCIBLE about a Philadelphia bartender (Marky Mark) who tries out for the Eagles. Not the band. The football team.

So I read GW’s speech online.

Main themes – recession and patience with Iraq.

His words were shunned by the Democrats poised to take over the White House in 2009. Television coverage was minimal, since the majority of the American public have heard more than enough from this ex-Texas Governor. “Where’s the remote?”

My sister was at a shopping mall last weekend. She noticed there weren’t any shoppers. Not even noisy teenagers wandering the canyons of commerce. The spend era is over and last night GW Bush did little to instill confidence in the public other than to promote his tax cuts by saying that if people are willing to pay more taxes. ”I welcome their enthusiasm, and I am pleased to report that the IRS accepts both checks and money orders.”

Few in Congress laughed at this joke other than GOP flaks.

Ain’t much funny these days and Hillary Clinton declared, “Tonight is a red-letter night in American history. It is the last time George Bush will give the State of the Union. Next year it will be a Democratic president giving it.”

Unless GW Bush seizes power for a 3rd term of unknown length.

Odds are 3000-1.

I’m betting the house on this one, because Bush only mentioned Osama bin Laden once. He’s waiting to play that card when it really counts.

Four more years or more.

Not that anyone in Thailand gives a rat’s ass.
