Putin’s Party Sweeps to Power

Yesterday’s Russian election was a resounding 62.9% victory for Putin’s United Party. The president will have to step down from power, but the 55 year-old ex-spy shall retain great influence within the government. Hell, I’m 55 and I’m no governing anything other than my house, whose rent is a month late, but at least I have a full-head of hair.

The Russians I have meet in Pattaya express no trepidation of having an ex-KGB man running the world’s largest country. “Russia is better under him. The world respects and fears us, especially your president GW Bush.”

The Gulags are forgotten and Soviet fashion is making a comeback.
Russians have money from oil.

Maybe not enough to holiday on the Riviera, but they are well in force in Pattaya and they don’t dress as badly as years past. The girls are slim. The men handsome. They walk with pride, although Thais regard the Russkis as kee-neo or cheap, however this apparent stinginess could possibly be attributed to the fact that Russians prefer to purchase the real thing and not knock-offs.

“They come into store.” My tailor complained about the ex-Soviet’s anti-spending spree. ” Ask how much. I say 1000. They say 200. Only buy vodka.”

The girls on Soi 6 say, “If Russian men come here, man want short time for 100 baht. Farang kee-nok. Only Indian man more kee-nio.”

Their evaluation might be true, but the Russia of today is not the Russia of George Bush 1. If GW’s father oversaw the collapse of the Iron Curtain, then his son ignored the re-rise of communism.

“I’ve looked into President Putin’s eyes and he’s a man of honor.”

GW won’t be getting a job a physionomiste after his retirement, that’s of course if he doesn’t seize power for a 3rd term.

Las Vegas has the odds at 175 to 1.

Last month it was 210 to 1.

Four more years.

Putin and Bush.

Not that anyone in Pattaya give a rat’s ass.
