XXX banned online in Thailand

Thailand is world known for its brothels, go-go bars, lady-boys, rent-a-boys, and massage parlors. My friend Sam says that the practice of selling your body is centuries old and dates back to when a man would travel the rice fields with buffalo to be rented by farmers to plow the fields. Homeless women led the buffalo during the day and sold their charms in the evening.

Authorities have traditionally turned their eyes and recently a major police officer from Bangkok said about Pattaya’s night life. “Prostitution? All I see are young people having a good time.”

His benign neglect is admirable, however the police are perplexingly more prohibitive about pornography infiltrating the Land of Smiles. No stroke books or XXX films allowed under penalty of imprisonment and this week local banks announced their entry in the battle against porno by threatening a ban on e-commerce used to buy XXX films over the internet.

Online XXX is a multi-billion dollar industry in the States. Thailand’s slice of the pie is smaller, yet still nets millions for youthful entrepreneurs flouting the kingdom’s interdictions against such immoral trade. The banks and police working together to stop this scourge are contemplating setting up a ministry of anti-pornography to supervise the campaign.

But what really is the harm?

“The reading or viewing of pornography only leads to the reading and viewing of more pornography.” Gore Vidal.

And I can attest to this theory, although many libertarians feel that pornography is the first line of defense for freedom of speech. So does watching more XXX films. The only people who should be banned from watching porno are really young kids, pederasts, and anyone who can’t get an erection from XXX films, because their the sort that go out and do crazy things out of frustration.

Me.

My fantasies are a little sordid, but only X instead of XXX.

I don’t like voyeurs.
